Tulip 'Mount Tacoma'
Boasting fully double flowers with lots of ruffled petals, these Mount Tacoma Tulip bulbs produce an attractive show of elegant blooms. They are perfect for beds and borders but also grow well in patio pots, where the creamy-white flowers will be the envy of your neighbours. The long-lasting blooms open out from pink and green buds, flowering from April to May. The flowers are similar in appearance to Peonies and grow upright on stems above a bed of lanceolate grey-green foliage.
The ideal time to plant these 11-12 sized bulbs is from September to October in pots or mid-October – December (after the first frost) in beds and borders. Choose a sheltered, sunny spot and dig a hole around 20cm deep in well-draining soil. Position the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing the sky and backfill with soil, gently firming down as you go, then water in well. Leave 10-15cm between bulbs to afford space for the roots to develop.
