Echinacea Purple Coneflower

This pack of Echinacea purpurea seeds produces an abundance of large, long-lasting blooms all summer long. The purple-pink daisy-like petals are complemented by raised cones in the centre - hence the plant’s common name, Coneflower. These colourful flowers are irresistible to pollinators, attracting bees and butterflies into the garden. Strong stems also make Coneflowers ideal for creating cut flower vase displays.

Sow Purple Coneflower seeds in pots or trays from January to June and keep them in a warm spot of around 18-21C until the seedlings are large enough to handle. Transplant into 9cm pots ready to gradually harden off and plant out from June. Once settled into their flowering site, the plants will bloom from July to September. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil and leave 30cm between plants. Water Coneflowers regularly until they are firmly established and deadhead spent blooms to promote further flowering and prevent self-seeding.
